ZDA was originally a shoe brand based in the small town of Partizanske, Slovakia in what was formerly known as Czechoslovakia from the 1950s through to the 1980s.

In 2016 a Japanese designer, well versed in Vintage European Clothing and Manufacturing, discovered on a visit to the region, that the original factory still possessed the original soles / lasts and machinery to re-commence production. With his creative input and the co-operation of the factory and local workforce, ZDA was brought back to life. Now only a few seasons into the resurgence of the brand, the machines are in daily action and the shoes are carefully crafted by hand using the same skills and techniques which were employed many decades previous.
